Frequently Asked Questions

Why is leasing an electric scooter better than buying a petrol bike or scooter?

There is no capital cost and there are are no maintenance costs. We keep you working with our 48 hour on the road guarantee. Depending on your mileage, you may find that savings you make on fuel costs are greater than the rental.

See our moped fuel calculator.

I’ve already got a scooter – what am I supposed to do with it?

Sell it on Ebay and generate some instant cash.

What’s the range, and what if I run out?

We don’t promise any particular range, as this is dependent on riding style, temperature, loading and tyre pressure. However our bikes have been specified with the largest replaceable batteries available to maximise the range.

If you find that the bike is not going far enough for your needs it is always possible to buy or rent an additional battery which you can keep on charge while you are working.

How does the free recovery work?

If there’s any mechanical issue with your bike which isn’t caused by misuse then we pay for recovery to our premises and we will try our best to get you back on the road as quickly as possible and certainly within 48 hours.

Flat tyres and flat batteries aren’t covered.

Do I have to work for a specific Company to rent one of your mopeds?

No. The bike is rented to you personally and you are free to work for whoever you wish.

Do I need to complete my CBT?

Unless you are a car driver who passed your driving test before 1 February 2001, then you need to have undertaken CBT to ride our Model 30 and Model 40 bikes.

You also need to put an L plate on the bike.

There is no licence required for the Model 18.

What is the maximum speed?

The top speed of each bike is detailed in the product specification.

How do I charge the scooter?

It can be charged at a normal household 13 amp socket or from a roadside charging point in central London. If you have concerns about charging, please get in touch and we’ll see if we can help you.

Can I take a scooter for just a few days each week? What happens if I want to cancel?

Unfortunately, our scooters are only available for rent by the week.  There is an initial four week rental commitment when you first get your bike.

Does the scooter come with insurance?

No. You are responsible for insuring the bike and for the Model 30 and Model 40 third party liability insurance is a legal requirement.

Are electric scooters as reliable as petrol scooters and bikes?

Electric mopeds are much more reliable than the vast majority of petrol scooters. Petrol scooters have complicated internal combustion engines have over 200 parts that can break or fail. If you suffer a mechanical breakdown on your E Rider bike we will repair or replace it.

How long does it take to charge the battery fully?

It takes around 7 hours to charge the battery fully from flat though you will charge to 80% in a much shorter time.

Why can't I buy one of your scooters?

You can. Just go to our main E Rider website.

Can I rent one scooter then change it for a different model.

Yes but there is a one off payment of £100 to exchange the scooters
